HOPEWELL (SARASOTA) (1887)
Hopewell Church, located at 3489 N. Lockwood Ridge Road, Sarasota, was constituted in 1887. The original building ws on Bee Ridge Road, and was destroyed by fire in the early 1900's. Another church building was destroyed by the 1926 hurricane. That property included a cemetery. The present meeting house was built in 1927, and more recently a dining hall has been erected beside it. Those who have served as pastor include: Elders Dan Wilkerson, Wheldon, Gilbert, Dan Kirland, Anderson, Cecil Bass, Riley Campbell, Ernest C. Adair, C. J. Small, Donald Cowart, Hilton Raulerson, Randall Parrish, Robert Mayhorn, and Norman Altman.
