HONEY GROVE (HONEY GROVE)(1846)

Honey Grove Church was constituted May 3, 1846 at Captain John Yeary's residence, in Fannin County, near the present town of Honey Grove, by Elder Jesse Butler and William Bracken, with the following members: George Dennis, Elder Moses Jones, William Jones, Hessa Jones, Joel Hammers, Louisa Jane Yeary, Mary Yeary and William Gotcher. In May 1849, the church met at a schoolhouse near the residence of E.G. Pennington and dissolved on the account of some of the members being murdered by the Indians and others moving away.

Philadelphia Church was constituted November 19, 1887, near Gober, Fannin County, by Elders T.S. Dalton, W.H. Harrell, S.W. Webb, W.B. Sikes, P.D. Ausmus, G.W. Burnes, J.W. Cavnar and J.W. Ray, with the following members: Mary Shelton, Elder J.G. Webb and wife, L.K. Webb, W.J. Majors and J.W. Segler.
