CHURCHES:
LITTLE CEDAR
Little Cedar Creek Church was organized on the fourth Saturday in August 1838. A number of brethren south of Big Cedar in Van Buren County, met on August 3, 1838, and agreed to request the aid of sister churches to constitute them into a church. The records of Big Creek Church, Henry County, show that the same month, Elder Lewis Allen presented a request for helps, which was granted. The church united with the Salem Association of Illinois in the fall of 1838, her messenger being James Bradley, and the church reported 14 members that year. The church also represented in the Salem Association in 1839 by her messengers, Elder Micajah B. Rowland and Henry Moss, who reported 20 members. The records of Salem Association describe the location of the church as being eight miles northeast of Ottumwa.
In June 1840 this church helped constitute the Des Moines River Association. The church dissolved in 1886.

LICK CREEK
Lick Creek Church was organized before June 1840, as it was one of the charter members of the Des Moines River Association. Elder David Wortman was an early member, and probably served the church as pastor. Little is known about this church. The church dissolved in about 1865.

MT. ZION
Mt. Zion Church appears in the minutes of the Hazel Creek Association. Included in the membership was Elder J. D. H. Price.
