SOVEREIGN GRACE
Sovereign Grace Church was organized on Saturday before the first Sunday in January, 1936, at the home of Brother Oliver Webb, in the city of Rock Island. The four charter members were: Brother Oliver Webb (from Providence Church, Hancock County), and John C. Cullison, Olivia DeLoach, and Mattie Blayney (Smyrna Church, Hancock County). Members of the presbytery included Elders Baxter Hale, C. E. Webb, and J. O. Symmonds, and Brethren Orvel B. Prior and Earl W. Poland. Elder J. O. Symmonds was chosen pastor of the church.

Note: There have been or still are Primitive Baptist churches in Davenport, Iowa.
