CHURCHES:

BUFFALO (BENNETT)(1885)

Buffalo Church, one-half mile east of Bennett, was organized in the Buffalo School house, from which it was named, at least as early as 1885, by Elder A.J. Whitwell, who gave the site. Buffalo Cemetery marks the former site of the little box church house that was used for a number of years. The cemetery was also known as the Chestnut Cemetery also, for Thomas Chestnut, on whose land it was started.

Buffalo Church was a member of the Cape Girardeau Primitive Baptist Association until 1895, when it was dismissed with others to organize the Current River Primitive Baptist Association.

NEW HOPE

New Hope Church was a member of the Cape Girardeau Primitive Baptist Association until 1895, when it was dismissed with others to organize the Current River Primitive Baptist Association.
