BETHEL (NEW RIVER)(1774)
Bethel Church was organized in 1774, and united with the Strawberry Association. It was the oldest church of those which were dismissed in 1793 to organize the New River Association. It dissolved in about 1860.

Bethel Church was organized on Saturday before the fourth Sunday in July, 1890, by members dismissed from Pilgrim's Rest Church.
REED ISLAND (HIWASSEE)
Reed Island Church was organized by members dismissed from Bethel Church.
