CHURCHES:

MT. MORIAH

Mt. Moriah Church was organized with about five members, William B. Earnest and wife, David McDonald, Elizabeth McDonald, and Jane Gholson, in 1856, and united with the Siloam Association in 1857. The church grew to ten members in 1860, but later become inactive. It was revived again, and reconstituted as Pisgah Church, as shown below. The church never had a meeting house, but met in the homes of Benjamin Gholson, William B. Earnest, and David McDonald. Some of the members are buried in the Earnest/Jennings Cemetery, in the area of Zena, Polk County.

LUCKIAMUTE

Luckiamute Church was organized on June 21, 1873, at a school house near the home of Brother David Parker, with seven charter members, viz., Medders Vanderpool, Willis Elliott, John A. Miller, David Parker, James Vanderpool, Mary Jane Miller, and Nancy Parker. The presbytery was composed of Elders Ezra Stout, Michael Loveridge, Abner Shanks, A. T. Beebe, and William M. Morrow, and Deacons and other brethren, Jesse H. Adams, John T. Crooks, B. F. Jesse, David Barker, and Edward Loat.

Bush, Butler, Craven, Elliott, Groshong, Horner, Lawrence, Logsdon, Miller, Mulkey, Parker, Pate, Rhodes, Smith, Tomlinson, Turnidge, Vanderpool, Watkins (very incomplete list due to loss of records).

PISGAH

Pisgah Church was constituted on November 16, 1874.

FELLOWSHIP

Fellowship Church, at Sheridan, was organized in 1875.
