ARM OF UNION CHURCH (1865)

In 1865, brethren and sisters in Page County, Iowa, who were members of Union Church in Greene County, Indiana, wrote requesting to be an "arm" of Union Church, with Augustin Carmichael as moderator and C. J. Carmichael as clerk. In February 1868 Union Church granted letters of dismission to Archibald Carmichael, Martha Carmichael, Mahala Carmichael, Elizabeth McFarland, Agnes Miller, Samuel Weaver, Andrew Martindale, Augustin Carmichael, and Albert King, to be constituted into a church.

THREE FORKS OF NODAWAY

Three Forks of Nodaway Church was located about five miles northwest of Pickering, Mo. This church was a member of the Western Corresponding Association of Missouri and Iowa. Elders R. M. Simmons served the church as pastor for thirty-three years. Elder Simmons was ordained at New Hope Church, Warren Co., Ill., in 1861, and joined Three Forks of Nodaway Church by letter, in 1876, where he remained a member until his death in 1910. Elder Thomas Shearer was ordained in this church in May 1896.
