INDIAN CREEK

Indian Creek Church, near Greenville, was organized in 1792. It had previously met as an arm of Greenbrier Church (see Greenbrier County).

DRY POND

Dry Pond Church was organized December 11, 1897, as an arm of the Flatwoods Church, by Elders R. Ballard, A. J. Cummings, John L. Hylton, and J. J. Ellison.

Pastors have included Elders R. Ballard, A. J. Cummings, J. J. Ellison, C. P. Ballard, L. K. Shockley, G. A. Reed, L. G. Mann, Thomas Jenkins, Marshall McBride, H. W. Morgan, and James H. Boothe.

Dry Pond Church was a member of the Indian Creek Association from its constitution until 1955, and since that time has been a member of the Mount Zion Association.

SPRINGFIELD

Springfield Church was organized as a result of a division in the Indian Creek Church, in 1955. The members who left Indian Creek met under the name of Indian Creek until they were constituted under the name Springfield Church on November 1, 1958. Elders Lowell Lilly and Hubert Morgan formed the presbytery. They had 44 charter members. Springfield Church has been a member of the Mount Zion Association since its constitution.
