CHURCHES:

SALEM (CHENEY)(1889)

Salem Church, at Cheney, was organized June 15, 1889. The charter members were Elder James H. Ring, Mary J. Ring, Averilla Gwaltney, Virginia Gibson, Joseph Bruce, and Barbara Bruce. The presbytery was composed of Elders James M. True, Pallas McKay, Isaac Irwin, and Deacons William H. Shoemaker, B. W. Magee, R. S. Scroggin, Shelvy Davis, and M. A. McBride. Elder James H. Ring was chosen the first pastor, followed by Elders John Chapman, C. L. Crouse, Joseph Ford, and W. S. Craig.

NEW HOPE (LINCOLN)(1927)

New Hope Church, in Lincoln, was organized on September 3, 1927. The presbytery was composed of Elders J. Q. Jones, George J. Jones, W. A. Holmes, T. B. Fisher, S. I. Gardner, and five deacons. Elder J. M. Smith was chosen as the first pastor. Meetings were held, at first, in the home of Elder and Sister Joseph Ford, in Lincoln.
