OWL CREEK

Owl Creek Church was organized in 1809, with twelve charter members, by Elder Amos Mix. The church met in a log building at first. It was a member of the Muskingum Association in 1814, the messengers being Elder Amos Mix and Brother Azarias Davis, who reported 41 members. Elder Amos Mix served the church from 1809 until 1817; he was followed by Elders Thomas Rigdon (1817-1833), Elder Ashbrook and James Berry (1833-1834), and Elder Kaufman (1834).

WAYNE

Wayne Church was organized in about 1810. Among the earliest members were William Lewis and wife, John Lewis and wife, and Eliphalet Lewis and wife, and a Brother Ackerman (a Revolutionary War veteran). Wayne Church was listed as a member of the Muskingum Association in 1814, her messenger being Elder Henry George, who reported 25 members. Their first meeting house was a frame structure, built in 1815. It was replaced with a new, neat frame building in 1837. This church, in 1852, was a member of the Owl Creek Harmony Association and reported 61 members.

FREDERICKTOWN

Fredericktown Church was organized by Elder John D. Thomas Sr., on Saturday, March 17, 1838. The five charter members constituting this church were Mary Struble, widow of the late John D. Struble; Mary Wright, wife of Dr. Lyman Wright; Miriam Corbin, Jacob Mitchel, and John Colgrove. This church went over to the mission system when the division occurred on that question.
