CHURCHES:

MILL CREEK (OPECKON)

Mill Creek Church, one of the earliest churches of the Ketocton Association, was organized in 1743, by Elder John Gerrard. (This date is given in church histories, but we have no documentary proof.)

ZOAR

Zoar Church was organized April 24, 1792, at the home of Christopher Collins, two miles northeast of Charles Town. Its original members were Christopher Collins, Samson Marmaduke, David Moore, William Talbot, Ann Collins, Hannah Sullivan, Anne Moore, Elizabeth Reily, Sarah Simpson, Mary Ridgway, and four negroes, Elisha, Sukey, Phyliss, and Rachel. The presbytery was composed of Elders Andrew Broaddus, Lewis Lunsford, and Henry Toler.

The church met at Christopher Collins home until a stone meeting house was erected, in 1801.
