CHURCHES:

WABASH (HUNTINGTON)

Wabash Church was organized in April 1866, at the Schafer school house. After discourses by Elders Zachariah Thomas and Freeman Taylor, letters were presented by the seven charter members, viz., Isaac Davis, John Hite, Noah Hite, Elizabeth Hite, Nancy Reber, James Wilson, and Ann Wilson.

In 1869 the church was moved to Barnes chapel, where it met until November 1938. Then a church house at Rock Creek Center was purchased, where services were held until 1961, when the building was moved to its present location, near Huntington.

Pastors who served the church during the first one hundred years were Elders Freeman Taylor, Edward Taylor, W. R. Nowels, George Bretz, Harvey Daily, S. J. West, N. L. Ford, Earl Daily, John Skinner, and Gordon L. Watson.
