Family History Research Assistance for Harrison County, Iowa

CHURCH:

From the History of Harrison County, Iowa, we find the following: "At the village of St. John's the first sermon was preached by Elder John CASE, of the Baptist Church, early in 1858. It was at the house of John DEAL."

ZION (LOGAN)

Beginning in May 1879, meetings were held by authority of the Council Bluffs Church in the "Henry Reel church house" in Logan, Harrison County, Iowa. This building was erected by Henry Reel for use by the Baptists living there, although a church had not been established. In 1884 Elder W. S. Dickerson visited and preached there, and encouraged the organization of a church. We have not definitely ascertained that a church was actually organized at Logan, but we have found evidence that there was a church called Zion in Harrison County.

SURNAMES OF MEMBERS:

Branson (only one name could be found due to loss of records).
