CHURCHES:

HIGH POINT (HIGH POINT)(1906)

High Point Church was constituted in March 1906. Elder Jesse Ashburn was the first pastor, and Bro. R. T. Stone was the first clerk. In the early 1920's this church was a member of the Salem Association, along with Abbott's Creek, Saint's Delight, and other churches in the area. At that time the doctrine of absolutism gained control in the association, which resulted in a division in High Point Church in February 1926. The two groups shared the same meeting house until 1958. In 1941 this church joined the Original Bear Creek Association. In 1958 a new meeting house was erected at 209 Rockspring Road, in High Point. Pastors in recent years have included Elders V. V. Willard, Roy Speir, and Steve Nichols.
