NORTH COON RIVER

North Coon River Church, near Jefferson, in Greene County, Iowa, was organized on Saturday before the fourth Sunday in July, 1878, by members dismissed for that purpose from Sharon Church in Guthrie County. They were: Elder John S. Morlan, Lavina Morlan, Evan Morlan, Dolly Morlan, Felix Reynolds, and Dolly Reynolds. This church was a member of the Western Association for a few years, and then united with the Missouri Valley Association. Elder John S. Morlan was one of the charter members, and was instrumental in its establishment. Meetings were held as an arm as early as 1871, in the Ratliff School in Green County.
