HONEY CREEK (MONTICELLO)

Honey Creek Church was organized in about 1845 or 1846. Elder John Butler, one of the charter members, moved to this area in the fall of 1845. The church met about eight miles north of Monroe. Among the names of the pastors were Elder John Butler and Elder William Long. The church soon united with the First Northwestern Regular Baptist Association, which had been organized in 1841.
