CHURCHES:

DENTON CREEK (1855)

Denton Creek Church was organized on June 2, 1855, at the house of Sister Medlin, with twelve charter members, viz., Charles Medlin, John Fanning, Urias Martin, Samuel Loving, Elizabeth Loving, Rhoda Fanning, Kesiah Martin, Ruth Allen, Delila Medlin, Mary Medlin, Tabitha Steward, and Mary C. Medlin. The presbytery was composed of Elders and brethren: F. J. Brown, William Honeyman, J. H. Barlow (Cedar Springs Church); Elders Samuel Clark and John Sneed (Pleasant Run Church); Elders Wit, Sol, and Fisher, and L. F. Lucas and M. A. Morris (Orchard Gap Church); also Bro. Morris of Cedar Springs Church, and Bro. Turner of Cross Timber Church. The church, after it was organized was served by Elders Wit, Sol, Fisher, Clark, and J. C. Autry, J. Sneed, Joseph Loving, William Flanigan, S. McKelvey, A. S. Bourland, Asa Howard, and others. The church was a member of the Trinity River Association.
