CHURCHES:
COOPER'S RUN (COWPER'S RUN)(1787)
Cooper's Run Church, near Paris, was organized in 1787, by Elders Augustine Eastin and James Garrard (who later become Governor of Kentucky), with less than twenty members, and united with the Elkhorn Association the same year. Five of the original members were killed by Indians during the first year of its existence. Elder Augustine Eastin appears to have been the first and only pastor of this church.

FLAT LICK
Flat Lick Church was probably organized by Elder Augustine Eastin. It united with the Elkhorn Association in 1793, with 13 members. In 1809 it entered the constitution of the Licking Association. In 1819, it took the name of Mt. Dependence. Elder Richard Thomas was a member of this church, and probably succeeded Elder Eastin as pastor. Elder Joel Morehead was also a member of this church.
