CHURCHES:
DRYWOOD (FORT SCOTT)
Drywood Church, near Fort Scott, was organized in the fall of 1866 with six charter members, including Daniel and Lewis Huddleston and their families. The meetings at first were held at the home of Brother Daniel Huddleston. Elder Ansel H. Mahurin was the first pastor. Later pastors included: Elders R. M. Hoggatt, R. M. Jones, and W. F. McCormick. During the 1890's this church experienced a rapid growth, and at one point reached a total membership of 111. This church was a charter member of the Turkey Creek Association, but later withdrew, and was an independent church for many years.

TURKEY CREEK (UNIONTOWN)
Turkey Creek Church, near Uniontown, was organized sometime prior to 1868. Elder Ansel H. Mahurin was the first pastor. Its meetings at first were held at the Turkey Creek school house. Later pastors included: Elders Thomas Job and J. M. Huddleston.
