Roan's Creek was organized in 1832. It is located about seven miles from West Jefferson on NC Highway 88.

Pond Mountain Church was organized on April 30, 1881, with fifteen charter members, viz., William Taylor, Sr., Susan Taylor, Martha Taylor, William H. Taylor, Caroline Taylor, Mary Taylor, Emaline Taylor, Nancy Taylor, Susan Taylor, Jane Roop, Susan Farmer, Nancy Taylor, John Ham, and Elizabeth Ham. The presbytery was composed of Elders Reuben Kilby, H. B. Miller, and C. C. Davis.
