Church and Family History Research Assistance for Primitive Baptist Churches in DeKalb County, Tennessee

CHURCHES:

SALEM (LIBERTY)(1809)

Salem Church was an arm of Brush Creek Church, and was constituted into an independent body with thirty-one members, in August 1809. The presbytery consisted of Elders Daniel Burford, John Wiseman, and Thomas Durham. The church was affiliated with the Concord Association (1810), and the Salem Association (1822).

NEW HOPE (ALEXANDRIA)(1819)

New Hope Church was constituted on March 27, 1819, with eighteen members, who were dismissed from Ssalem Church. The presbytery consisted of Elders Cantrel Bethel, Joshua Lester, Presley Lester, and deacons J. Eaton and Barton Cook. This church first joined Concord Association in 1819, then Salem Association in 1822.
