History of the Carthage Primitive Baptist Church
In January 1995, a few members and friends of the Primitive Baptist Church began holding services in Carthage, Illinois, while the present church building was being constructed. They continued to hold regular meetings, until finally they obtained letters of dismission for the purpose of organizing a church. The Carthage Primitive Baptist Church was formally constituted by a presbytery, on Tuesday, July 29, 1997. The church building was deeded to the church, a short time later. A dining room with kitchen facilities has been added on the west end. Elder Robert Webb was chosen as pastor in 1997. Elder Robbie Webb was ordained to the work of the ministry in August 2004. He was chosen assistant pastor in January 2005, and later as co-pastor. Visitors are sincerely welcome to attend our services.
